SOCIAL SERVICES
In His Name Justice, Education and Social Services (In His Name) was founded in 2004 by Dr. Annie R. Pressley. Dr. Pressley was concerned about the low graduation rates among inner city youth. After intensive research on the issue, Dr. Pressely discovered that the causes behind the high dropout rates among at-risk teens were a multifaceted problem. In tackling these issues, Dr. Pressely wanted to create an organization that would address all the causes with a holistic and deeply spiritual solution. From this desire and commitment In His Name was born.
Dr. Pressely determined that many laws had been enacted to facilitate and mandate that resources and funding be provided to solve the issues surrounding school dropout. Although many of these laws and organizations had overlapping goals, most of them fail to work together in a partnership. Dr. Pressely decided that In His Name would first, educate people about these resources. Secondly, In His Name would provide free legal services to assit families as they attempted to secure the appropriate education services for their children. Finally, In His Name would also provide day to day support in implementing these services.
In His Name provides case by case advocacy services for at risk teens. Advocates assist parents with excessive school suspensions, juvenile court, and special education matters. These advocacy services help parent negotiated the myriad of complicated legal protections on the state and federal level. In His name also provides workshops and training to teach parents and teens how to be their own best advocates.
In His name does not stop at the advocacy level. In His Name provides mentoring and tutoring services. Mentor offer daily support to teens to help them learn to make better choices. The tutoring services assist students with special education needs. The tutoring and mentoring are provided in a combined setting afterschool setting. The afterschool program provides an educational, fun and a safe haven.
Since the founding of In His Name, and with the grace and benevolent love of our creator, In His Name has helped countless youth graduate from high school and go on to college or technical schools.
In His Name is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
In His Name Justice, Education & Social Services is currently headed by Dr. Pressley’s daughter Christine L. Galloway. Ms. Galloway completed law school at The University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law. Ms. Galloway also has a B.A. Degree in Management from Howard University. Ms. Galloway has worked as an advocate and educator in the Washington, DC area for over 15 years.
